Kemampuan Tumbuh Eceng Gondok (Eichhornia Crassipes) Pada Beberapa Konsentrasi Limbah Cair Tahu
The tofu industry has the potential to produce liquid waste containing high levels of organic and inorganic materials, which may cause environmental pollution. Efforts to overcome pollution caused by waste can be made by phytoremediation using water hyacinth (E. crassipes). The purpose of this research was to determine the ability growth of water hyacinth (E. crassipes) to grow at several concentrations of tofu liquid waste. The research used a Complete Random Design with a variation of tofu liquid waste concentrations 0 (control), 25, 50, 75 and 100%. The research conducted for 20 days. Data was analyzed using analysis of variance and tested further with the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the use of water hyacinth at low tofu liquid waste concentrations (25 and 50%) was able to increase final fresh biomass and at high tofu liquid waste concentrations (75 and 100%) decrease final fresh biomass with a final chlorophyll content range of 36,9-47,4 µmol/m2. Water hyacinth is able to increase pH and temperature at all concentrations of tofu liquid waste.
Key findings: Phytoremediation, tofu liquid waste, water hyacinth.
