ABSTRACT
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is still a global health problem, including in Indonesia. Nervous disorders are one of the complications arising from antiretroviral therapy (ARV) and opportunistic infections. One of the nervous disorders that can occur in HIV/AIDS patients is sleep disorders. There are several factors that can be related to sleep quality in HIV/AIDS patients such as age, gender, CD4+ levels, clinical stage, length of time diagnosed with HIV, duration of ARV therapy, and type of ARV used. The aim of this study was to determine the factors associated with sleep quality in HIV/AIDS patients at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province from August-October 2023. The design of this study was analytical with a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 41 people. The results of this study showed that the majority were ≤45 years old, 32 people (78%), dominated by men, 32 people (78%). CD4+ levels were >200 cells/mm³ in 30 people (73.2%). The majority had clinical stage 3 as many as 17 people (41.5%) with a duration of HIV diagnosis of >1 year as many as 29 people (70.7%), duration of ARV therapy >6 months as many as 36 people (87.6%), and the majority used ARV efavirenz was 25 people (61%). The prevalence of poor sleep quality based on the PSQI questionnaire was 56.1%. The conclusion of this study is that there is an association between CD4+ (p = 0.011), clinical stage (p = 0.014), and the use of efavirenz therapy (p = 0.025) with poor sleep quality in HIV / AIDS patients.
