ABSTRACT


The vast amount of medical literature is published and doctors are encouraged to read more than one research report every half hour. Meanwhile, doctors have limited time to get the latest information amidst their busy lives. On the other hand, doctors and health care practitioners receive many questions regarding decision making in patient care. Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) is the right step in making decisions regarding patient care. The application of EBM itself consists of integrating the best available research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values. Therefore, this research aims to find out the description of knowledge, attitudes and practice of evidence based medicine among students of the medical profession at the Faculty of Medicine, Riau University. This research is a quantitative study with a descriptive type and cross-sectional design using an evidence based medicine questionnaire which was distributed to medical professional students at the Faculty of Medicine, Riau University, which was carried out in August – December 2023. The results of this study show that the description of knowledge, attitudes and practices evidence based medicine for medical professional students at the Faculty of Medicine, Riau University includes moderate, neutral and sufficient criteria. So it is necessary to improve learning regarding evidence based medicine.
