ABSTRACT
Inulin is a natural polysaccharide from carbohydrates that can improve glucose metabolism, thereby reducing the risk of Diabetes Melitus (DM). Inulin is also degraded into short-chain fatty acids that can reduce cholesterol synthesis so that the occurrence of atherosclerosis in DM patients can be prevented. This study used dahlia tuber inulin extract to see the effect of dahlia tuber inulin on coronary artery histopathology in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study is an experimental laboratory using experimental animals, such as male Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar that is divided into five groups. This research was conducted in July-November 2023 with the obtained is quantitative data. The results obtained in the group induced with Streptozotocin 60 mg / kgBW and Nicotinamide 120 mg / kgBW have the highest mean score in the DM group is 0.91 and the lowest in the DM + inulin 1.5 mg / gBW / day group by 0.08.
