Motivasi Berolahraga Mahasiswa Universitas Riau
This research is motivated by the use of students' free time for academic and non-academic activities. In the midst of busy student activities, many of them still find time to exercise. This relates to a positive attitude towards sports activities which will provide the encouragement or motivation needed to pursue and achieve a desired goal in sports. This research was conducted in the Bina Widya Campus, H.R. Soebrantas Road, KM. 12.5 Simpang Baru, Tampan sub-District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, precisely in a place that is a sports spot. This research aims to determine: (1) Universitas Riau students' exercise motivation (2) Cognitive, affective and conative attitudes towards exercise motivation. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The population of this study were all Universitas Riau students who carried out sports activities around the Bina Widya Campus and the sample was 96 respondents based on the Lemeshow formula. Sampling used accidental sampling technique. The data instruments are in the form of questionnaires, observations and documentation. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the majority of Riau University students have a high level of cognitive, affective and conative attitudes regarding sports activities, followed by a high level of motivation to exercise for health needs, recreation needs, social needs and personal potential needs. Of all the attitudes, respondents have a high cognitive attitude and the majority of their motivation to exercise is in the high category. This means that cognitive attitudes have a big role in influencing the sports motivation of Riau University students.
