This research is motivated by several things such as the development of the times at this time has undergone significant changes, the digital era which has a positive impact, the storage of archives in digital form, and the existence of the Pekanbaru City Library and Archives Service. The purpose of this research is to find out the initial process of digitizing historical archives, knowing the form of archive digitization, and knowing the benefits of digitizing historical archives in a historical research. The Pekanbaru City Library and Archives Office or more abbreviated as DISPUSIP Pekanbaru City is formed and headed by 3 (three) fields, namely the field of guidance, the field of service information, the acquisition field. One of the functions of the Pekanbaru City Library and Archives Office itself is planning and formulating policies in the field of libraries and archives. The process of digitizing archives at the Pekanbaru City Library and Archives Office itself starts with the process of examining archives in the form of physical archives, then proceeds with indexing archives which can make it easier to find archives, then the scanning process (scanner) which will convert the physical form of the archive into digital form, and ends with the uploading process which will upload the digital form of archives that have gone through the digitization process to trusted sites of the Pekanbaru City Library and Archives Office such as SIKN, JIKN, and memorabilia.
