Uji Efektivitas Ekstrak Daun Sereh (Cymbopogon Nardus L. Rendle) Dalam Pengendalian Cacat Army Beet (Spodoptera Exigua Hubner) Di Laboratorium
Shallot is an important horticultural commodity in the food industry with nutrients such as fibre, vitamin C, potassium. Efforts to increase shallot production still experiencing obstacles, including pest attacks in the field. Beet armyworm (Spodoptera exigua Hubner) is a major problem in shallot cultivation. S. exigua can cause yield losses of more than 57%. Control is generally carried out using synthetic insecticides, but the continuous use of synthetic insecticides can have a negative impact on environment. One alternative control that can be used is botanical insecticide from citronella leaf extract (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle). This study aims to obtain a concentration of citronella leaf extract that is effective for controlling Spodoptera exigua larvae in the laboratory. This research was conducted at the Plant Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University from May to July 2023. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications, resulting in 20 experimental units. The treatments given were citronella leaf extract concentration of 0 g.l-1 water, 25 g.l-1 water, 50 g.l-1 water, 75 g.l-1 water, and 100 g.l-1 water. The results showed that the concentration of 100 g.l-1 water was not effective in controlling Spodoptera exigua larvae with a total mortality of 77.50%, the fastest initial mortality time at 23.50 hours after application, the 50 th mortality time at 57.75 hours after application. The correct concentration of citronella leaf extract to kill 50% of larvae S. exigua is 5,97% or the equivalent of 59,7 g.l-1 water.
