Prarancangan Pabrik Sodium Hydroxide Dari Garam Industri Dengan Desain Alat Utama Evaporator (EV-101)
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is an important ingredient in the chemical industry because it is used in various industries such as paper, soap and textiles. The need for sodium hydroxide in Indonesia is still met by importing it from abroad. With the establishment of the sodium hydroxide factory, it is hoped that it can reduce dependence on imported sodium hydroxide and can spur industrial growth in Indonesia. The pre-design of a sodium hydroxide plant from industrial salt with a main evaporator design (EV-101) has a production capacity of 45,000 tons/year. The raw material used is industrial salt (NaCl). The process used is the process of producing NaOH by electrolysis with a diaphragm cell. The electrolysis process with a diaphragmatic cell is divided into three stages, namely preparation of the NaCl solution (brine), electrolysis reaction, and evaporation of the NaOH solution. The main evaporator (EV-101) is used to evaporate the NaOH solution. The type of evaporator (EV-101) used is a long tube vertical evaporator with operating conditions of 1 atm and 100oC. Factory economic analysis is carried out to determine the feasibility of the factory to be built. The results of the economic feasibility analysis of this factory design are the pay back period, namely 3.6 years, Internal Rate of Return, namely 22.74%, Return of Investment, namely 7.21%, Break Even Point, namely 33.56%.
