Prarancangan Pabrik Metil Klorida Proses Hidroklorinasi Metanol Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Fixed Bed Multitube (R-101)
Methyl chloride with the molecular formula CH3Cl, usually used as the main material for silicone fluids synthesis. Silicone fluids then processed into anti-foaming agent, release agent, and light lubricant. The main raw materials used in the manufacture of methyl chloride by the methanol hydrochlorination process are methanol and hydrochloride acid. The plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours per day, with capacity of 100,000 tons per year to be established in the Industrial State of Bontang, East Borneo. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company with a line and staff organization system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment in this plant is the Reactor (R-101), which functions to hydrochlorinate methanol into methyl chloride. This fixed bed reactor is operated at a pressure of 1,9 atm and a temperature of 105 ⁰C. The economic analysis in this plant design shows that this plant is feasible to establish. Break Event Point (BEP) value of 58%, Pay Back Period (PBP) for 2.17 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 34.98%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.74%.
