Eucalyptus bark based on its chemical composition within a bio-industrial framework can be used to make value products such as activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is a carbon that has good absorption capacity as an adsorbent. In general, several factors influence the characteristics of activated charcoal, one of which is particle size. The particle size will affect the surface area and absorption capacity of activated charcoal. The study aimed to obtain the best particle size of eucalyptus bark activated charcoal with chemical activation using H3PO4. The study was conducted experimentally using a complete randomized design (CRD) consisting of three treatments and five replications so that 15 experimental units were obtained. This study's treatment is the particle size with U1 : 60 mesh, U2 : 80 mesh, and U3 : 100 mesh. The observation parameters tested include yield, moisture, ash, bound carbon, volatile matter, and iodine absorption. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's multiple ranges (DMRT) at 5% to determine the difference in each treatment. The results showed that particle size significantly affected the content yield, moisture, ash, volatile matter, bound carbon, and iodine absorption of activated charcoal from eucalyptus bark which is chemically activated using phosphoric acid. The best treatment was U3 treatment (particle size 100 mesh) which yielded 68.22%, moisture 4.95%, ash 6.09%, volatile matter 12.86%, bound carbon c 72.86% and iodine absorption 893.38 mg.g-1.
