Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Palmitat Dari Crude Palm Oil (Cpo) Dengan Desain Utama Decanter (De-101)

Oil palm (Elaeis Quinensis, Jacq) is a tropical plant belonging to the Palmae family and originating from West Africa. Processing palm oil fruit will produce crude palm oil (CPO or Crude Palm Oil) which is yellow and palm kernel oil (PKO or Palm Kernel Oil) which is colorless (clear). One of the components contained in CPO is palmitic acid with high composition, namely around 44%. Palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid composed of 16 carbon atoms (CH3(CH2)14COOH). When viewed from a nutritional perspective, palmitic acid is an important source of calories. Apart from that, this product is also widely used in the fields of cosmetics and coloring. The process of making palmitic acid using CPO and water as raw materials is divided into 3 process stages, including the feed preparation stage which consists of a treatment process to remove impurities which includes the degumming and bleaching processes. Then the reaction stage uses a hydrolysis reaction, and the separation stage to separate the main product and side products. In the palmitic acid factory there are 3 tools that function to separate and purify products including, Flash Drum 1 (FD-101), Decanter (DE-101), and Distillation 1 (T-101). The decanter is one of the most important tools in making palmitic acid. This tool functions to separate triglycerides and glycerol by-products. Separation is done based on the density difference between light liquid at the top and heavy liquid at the bottom. This Palmitic Acid factory from CPO operates 330 days per year and works 24 hours per day, while the remaining time in the year is used for shut down, maintenance and repair of the factory. Meanwhile, employee working hours are divided into two groups, namely shift employees and non-shift employees. This factory with a capacity of 80,000 tons/year will be established in the Rokan Hilir area, Riau. Economic analysis in this factory design shows a PBP value of 4.725 years, IRR of 22.728%, ROI of 22.163%, and BEP in the 5th year with a production BEP of 36%.
