Hubungan Kegawatdaruratan Onkologi Dengan Jenis Tumor Mediastinum Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2019-2023
The mediastinum is prone to life-threatening conditions caused by tumor suppression or therapy, called oncological emergencies, which need to be treated quickly and appropriately according to the etiology of complaints considering the type of mediastinal tumor. Despite the increase in cases, literature on this tumor is difficult to find, especially in Pekanbaru city. This study aimed to determine the relationship between oncology emergencies (airway obstruction, SVCS, pleural effusion, cancer pain, hemoptysis, myasthenia gravis) with the type of mediastinal tumor (thymoma, lymphoma, teratoma) at RSUD Arifin Achmad Riau Province in 2019-2023. This analytic study with retrospective cross-sectional design had 35 samples that were tested using Fisher-Freeman Halton Exact's test to determine the relationship between the two variables. This study revealed that the most common type of mediastinal tumor was mediastinal lymphoma (54.3%) with the majority of male patients (60%) aged under 40 years (45.7%). The test found SVCS (P=0.041) and cancer pain (P=0.024) had an association while there was no association between airway obstruction, pleural effusion, hemoptysis, and myasthenia gravis with mediastinal tumors. SVCS and cancer pain had a statistically significant association with mediastinal tumors, while there was no association of airway obstruction, pleural effusion, hemoptysis, and myasthenia gravis with mediastinal tumors.
