The Indonesian government has implemented independent curriculum as a solution to improve the quality of learning. However, the implementation of this curriculum faces with various challenges, including the lack of knowledge, skills, and attitudes among teachers in dealing with curriculum changes. Teacher’s knowledge, skills and attitudes have an important role in their readiness to implement the independent curriculum. This research aims todetermine the readiness of chemistry teachers in implementing the independent curriculum in Riau Province.
This research used a quantitative descriptive approach. This quantitative descriptive research describe about certain social phenomena as sistematically, actual and accuratelywith the aim of describing in detail the exiting factsand data. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and interviewes. The population in this study were all senior high school chemistry teachers in Riau Province, especially in three districts/cities, namely Pekanbaru, Indragiri Hilir and Indragiri Hulu with a total population of 221 chemistry teachers. The sample in the study was taken using proportionate random sampling technique to obtain 143 chemistry teachers.
The research results show that 1) Knowledge partially had a positive and significant effect on the implementation of the independent curriculum, this could be seen from the p-value was smaller than 0.05 and t- value 35.726. 2) Skills partially had a positive and significant effect on the implementation of the independent curriculum, this can be seen from the p-value was smaller than 0.05 and t-value 117.627. 3) Attitude partially had a positive and significant effect on the implementation of the independent curriculum, this could be seen from the p-value was smaller than 0.05 and t-value 22.812. 4) Knowledge and skills together had a positive and significant influence on the implementation of the independent curriculum. This was shown by the value of F-value > F- table, namely (898.061> 2.67). 5) Knowledge and attitudes together had a positive and significant influence on the implementation of the independent curriculum. This was shown by the value of F-value > F-table, namely (1515,690> 2.67). 6) Skills and, attitudes together had a positive and significant influence on the implementation of the independent curriculum. This was shown by the value of F-value > F-table, namely (364.626 > 2.67). 7) Knowledge, skills and attitudes together had a positive and significant influence on the implementation of the independent curriculum. This was shown by the value of F-value > F-table, namely (1129.598). From the three aspects of readiness that were studied together, the knowledge aspect had a higher influence than attitudes and skills in implementing the independent curriculum.
