Education is very important as a factor in generating human resource development by increasing the abilities of society and developing scientific capacity. One of them is a high school which was established in the Kubu Babussalam sub-district, namely SMA N 1 Kubu Babussalam. Every year it accepts new students and students from various disciplines. One of the school's programs is receiving poverty by students (KIP) to help students financially to maintain the school. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the formulation of the problem is to help schools in selecting and determining which students are entitled to receive and who are economically disadvantaged to receive the poverty aid funds. In this case, the research uses the CART algorithm to create a decision tree based on training from a student database provided by the school operator to the author. In order to produce a decision tree to select appropriately targeted recipients of poor financial aid. The aim of this research is to determine who is entitled to and who is not entitled to receive the poverty aid funds.
