pengaruh self-help group terhadap kualitas hidup remaja talasemia yang mengalami masalah psikologis
Thalassemia is a hereditary hemolytic disease that disrupts hemoglobin synthesis. Patients with major thalassemia require regular blood transfusions, which can lead to psychological problems, such as feelings of inferiority and social withdrawal, especially among adolescents. These psychological issues can reduce adherence to medical care and impact quality of life. This study aims to analyze the effect of Self-Help Groups (SHG) on the quality of life of adolescents with thalassemia who experience psychological problems. Methods: This study is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design, using a pretest and posttest group design. The study involved 39 respondents, divided into an intervention group (n=17) and a control group (n=22). The sampling technique used was nonprobability sampling with totalsampling. The instrument used to assess the psychological issues experienced by adolescents with thalassemia was the SRQ-20 (Self-Rating Questionnaire), while the WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality Of Life-BREF) questionnaire was used to measure the quality of life of adolescents with thalassemia. Statistical tests were performed using bivariate analysis with t-test, Wilcoxon, and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: There were differences in the mean quality of life scores between the pretest and posttest in both the intervention and control groups, with a p-value of (0.001) < α (0.05).
Conclusion: There is a significant effect of Self-Help Group on the quality of life of Thalassemia adolescents with psychological problems.
