efektivitas media pembelajaran berbasis augmented reality untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswatingkat smp pada materi tata surya
The application of science education is not merely about gathering knowledge, but must emphasize providing direct experiences in the learning process to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes. To facilitate the science learning process, creative and innovative methods must be used so that learning objectives can be achieved to the maximum extent possible. Therefore, innovation is needed in the form of learning media that is in line with the characteristics of the subject matter and is more interesting so that students are more active in the learning process. In this case, learning media based on Augmented Reality applications is expected to make changes in the learning process on the subject of the Solar System.
The purpose of this study was to determine students' learning outcomes on Solar System material after participating in learning using learning media based on augmented reality applications and to determine the increase in students' cognitive learning outcomes after using learning media based on augmented reality applications on Solar System material in grade VII junior high school. This study was conducted at SMPN 1 Tebing Tinggi in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year in February 2025 with a population of all classes VII.
The sample in this study was class VII.1 as the experimental class with a total of 31 students, and class VII.4 as the control class with 26 students, bringing the total to 57 students. The results of the study on the application of augmented reality-based learning media on solar system material by administering a post-test were successful in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes, with an average score of 85 in the experimental class, which was categorized as good. The type of research used was a quasi-experiment with a design involving two groups, namely a posttest only non-equivalent control group design. The data collection method used in this study was to administer a post-test instrument after the treatment. The research instrument used was a written test on Solar System material with 15 multiple-choice questions based on cognitive learning outcome indicators C1-C5 and learning objective
indicators. The learning outcomes were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis.
The results of the descriptive analysis of student learning outcomes showed that students who learned using augmented reality-based learning media had an average score of 85.06, which was higher than students who used conventional learning methods, who had an average score of 80.73 . The results of the inferential analysis also showed that students who learned using augmented reality had a significant difference compared to students who used conventional learning methods.
Based on the results of the study obtained after teaching the Solar System material in class VII.1 of SMPN 1 Tebing Tinggi, teaching the Solar System material using augmented reality is effective in improving student learning outcomes. Therefore, the author recommends Augmented Reality (AR) as an alternative media innovation for learning that can be applied in science education, especially in teaching the Solar System material in schools.
