Pemanfaatan Minyak Atsiri Rimpang Jeringau (Acorus Calamus L.) Sebagai Antibakteri Sabun Transparan
The purpose of this research was to get the volume of jeringau rhizome essential oil right on the quality of transparent soap and it’s resistence to growth of S. aureus and E. coli. The research used a Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were addition of jeringau rhizome essential oils, S0 (0 ml), S1 (0.05 ml), S2 (0.10 ml), S3 (0.15 ml), and S4 (0.20) ml in 100 ml of transparent soap formula. The research showed that addition of jeringau essential oils significantly effected on water content, fatty acid total, free fatty acid, degree of acidity (pH), antibacterial activity, flavor, and hedonic test. Transparent soap elected from this research was treatment S4 (addition essential oils 0.20 ml). Transparent soap from this treatment had water content 12.37%, total fatty acid 34.42%, free fatty acid 1.76%, pH 9.93, foam stability 91.95%, antibacterial activity against S. aureus 15.46 mm and E. coli 11.67 mm, and iriitation test 0.05 (almost invisible). The result of descriptive test on transparent soap showed that the soap had jeringau flavor and assessment of hedonic test on transparent soap was favored by the panelists.
