Pengaruh Penambahan Grafena Dan Waktu Kalsinasi Terhadap Sifat Kuat Tekan Batu Bata
Modification of bricks was necessary to produce bricks with high mechanical strength. This study aims to make bricks with the addition of graphene additives from used pencil graphite and study the effect of adding graphene and calcination time to the characteristics of the bricks produced. Graphene-brick composites making was started from the manufacture of graphene with a concentration of 20 mg/ml using the turbulence-assisted shear exfoliation (TASE) method. Furthermore graphene is added to the prepared clay, and formed in size (5x5x5) cm3 and dried process at room temperature for a week. Then the bricks are calcined with variations of 1 hour, 3 hours and 5 hours and the addition of graphene 5% wt, 10% wt and 15% wt clay which burned in the furnace at temperature of 800ºC. The mechanical properties of bricks obtained from compressive strength and porosity tests. With the addition of graphene and the length of time calcination increases compressive strength and decreases porosity in bricks. The results showed that the highest compressive strength was the addition of 15% wt graphene and 5 hour calcination time of 6 MPa. And the results of the study also showed the lowest porosity in the addition of graphene 15% wt and 5-hour calcination time of 8%. The structure and morphology of graphene were characterized with the fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while the crystal size of graphene used diffraction x-ray (X-RD). The crystallinity test showed peak of 2θ at 25.1o with crystal size of 25.5nm, while the SEM results show that graphene was evenly diffused.
