Sifat Fisik Dan Mekanik Kayu Tembusu (Fragraea Fragrans) Di Pekanbaru Berdasarkan Sni 7973:2013
Wood had many advantages as construction materials including strong, lightweight, earthquake-resistant, and beautiful texture. Wood comes from nature, so there are often product defects due to both the growing process and the picking process. Wood was the non-homogeneous material so the quality of wood was different for each type of wood and the location of the wood itself in a tree. Tembusu (Fragraea fragrans) was the wood that has high strength. The used of tembusu in Pekanbaru was very high but only for non-structural used. Structural used requires characteristic data of tembusu wood. These research aims were to examine the physical properties such as moisture content and the specific gravity of wood and mechanical properties such as modulus of elasticity, flexural strength, compressive strength and shear strength of tembusu wood and classified tembusu wood based on SNI 7973: 2013. The results obtained the average water content value and the specific gravity of tembusu are 60,08% and 0.88 gr/cm3. The modulus of elasticity of tembusu was 10.000 MPa, the value of flexural strength was 28,40 MPa, the value of parallel compressive strength to the air-dried water content was 16,31 MPa, the value of parallel compressive strength to the oven-dried water content was 16.26 MPa, the value of shear strength to the air-dried water content was 2.54 MPa, and the value of shear strength to the oven-dried was 3,27 MPa. Based on the mechanical properties obtained, it could be concluded that tembusu wood can be used as a structural element.
