Isolasi Dan Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Senyawa Metabolit Sekunder Dari Ekstrak Metanol Akar Tunjuk Langit (Helminthostachys Zeylanica (L.) Hook.)

Tunjuk langit (Helminthostachys zeylanica (L.) Hook.) is a fern that belongs to
the Ophioglossaceae. Phytochemical screening showed that this plant contained
secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolics and saponins. The
roots of this plant was extracted by maceration method using methanol.
Separation of the secondary metabolitesin the methanol extractwere conducted by
vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC) followed by flash chromatography. These
separation processes gave a pure compound HZ22. The characterization of
HZ22using UV-Vis and FT-IR spectroscopyconcluded that HZ22 was a
flavonoid. The results of antibacterial using agar diffusion method test showed
that HZ22 and the methanol extract active against Bacillus subtilis and
Escherichia coli.
