One of the causes of groundwater pollution by Coliform is because most of
the population does not have adequate septic tanks and even if there is a location
near the well location and the depth does not meet applicable regulations. This
can disrupt the health of the people who consume it. This study aims to 1)
Measure the amount of household Willingness to Pay for improving groundwater
quality in Delima Puri Simple Housing Pekanbaru City. 2) Identifying the effect of
age, education, income, and number of lives in a household on Willingness to Pay
for improving groundwater quality in Delima Puri Simple Housing Pekanbaru
City and 3) Knowing the households in the Delima Puri Simple Housing prefer
make a personal septic tank according to the Minister of Health regulations or
make a communal septic tank.
The data used in this study is quantitative data. The sampling method used
in this study is the Non-Probability Sampling method, namely Purposive
Sampling. So the samples in this study were 84.
The results of this study indicate that 1) The amount of Willingness to Pay
for the improvement of groundwater quality in Delima Puri Simple Housing is
Rp7,035,000, with an average of Rp83,750. The average value can be used as a
reference in determining the cost of preventing or controlling groundwater
pollution in the Delima Puri Simple Housing area. 2) Education and income
variables have a positive effect on Willingness to Pay for improving quality of
groundwater in Delima Puri Simple Housing Pekanbaru City, while the age and
number of people in the household does not effect on Willingness to Pay for
improving quality of groundwater in Delima Puri Simple Housing Pekanbaru
City. 3) Cross Table results show that the variable age, education, income and
number of lives in dominant households choose steps to improve groundwater
quality in the form of communicating the septic tank compared to the making of
the septic tank in accordance with the Minister of Health regulation.
