Analisis Penawaran Dan Permintaan Kopi Indonesia Di Pasar Dunia
Indonesia is the largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil and Vietnam. Indonesian coffee development is constrained by the low productivity and quality of coffee caused by inappropriate cultivation techniques. This study aims to analyze the response of supply and demand for Indonesian coffee in the World market. This research used the secondary data from the Food Agriculture Organization (FAO). This research was used an econometric approach by building a simultaneous equation model. The data was analyzed with Two-Stage Least Square (2SLS) method.
The results of this research showed that in short term, there were some responsive factors affecting by the supply and demand of Indonesian coffee. The factors are prices and ratio of exports based on world coffee supply. Responsive factors in the long terms are the Vietnam coffee area, the additional prices of Vietnam coffee, the exchange rate of Dong against US Dollar, the Brazil sugar prices, the increased supply of Colombian coffee, the world coffee prices, the Italian coffee price in the previous year, and the ratio of export to world coffee supply. Policies that can be taken by the Government to increase productivity and quality of coffee through intensification programs are to improve cultivation techniques by providing superior seeds. Increase coffee acreage through extensification programs by preventing the occurrence of coffee land conventions for competing commodities. Increasing coffee competitiveness through diversification programs by adjusting kind of coffee to market demand, increasing processed coffee products, and increasing exports of processed coffee.
