Pemanfaatan Spent Bleaching Earth (Sbe) Dan Kapur Tohor Dalam Pembuatan Batako
The characteristics of SBE and quicklime almost resemble sand, but have finer particles,
therefore these two materials are used in this study as a substitute for some of the sand in
brick making. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the variation in the
addition of the amount of SBE and quicklime used in the making of the concrete blocks
and the quality of the bricks made compared to those of the bricks according to SNI 03-
0349-1989. The quality of the brick is determined based on dry weight, the absorption
capacity of the brick against water and the compressive strength of the brick. In this study
also made bricks without the addition of SBE and quicklime used as a comparison. In this
study, the making of one brick block was carried out using a fixed variable, namely 2.5 kg
cement and water 1,25 kg, while the changing variables were the amount of sand, SBE
and Tohor lime. From the results of the research, it can be seen that the SBE and
quicklime blocks of the highest quality are those with a composition of 2.5 kg cement, 8.1
kg sand, 0.20 kg SBE and 0.10 kg Tohor lime. This brick has a compressive strength of
71.37 Kg / cm2 and meets SNI-03-0349-1989 quality II, with the absorption power of the
brick against water by 2.02% according to SNI-03-0349-1989. And has a dry weight of
7.90 kg.
