ABSTRACT
This research aims to analyze the diversity of household food consumption patterns sourced by animal proteins was according to income level, number of household members, and the housewives' education in Riau Province. The research was analyzed by an econometric approach using the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) and Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) models. The analysis used by modeling the demand function for purebred chicken meat commodities, beef, other meats, fresh fish, preserved fish, shrimp and other water animals, purebred chicken eggs, another eggs, milk, and other dairy products taken from raw data of the Results National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) for Riau Province in 2018. The results showed that with the increase of incoming level, the proportion of animal protein food expenditure predisposed decrease. As the number of family members increases, the proportion of household spending tends to decrease. A higher level of housewives’ education will be increasing the amount of consumption of purebred chicken meat, beef, other meats, other eggs, and milk. The consumption of demand for animal protein indicated by R2 valued at 0.0991 to 0.6092 and remaining variables included in the model may explain the variation in the share of food commodity expenditures of animal protein sources by about 9.91 percent to 60.92 percent, meanwhile explained by other factors that do not belong in the model.
