ABSTRACT
The communication behavior in increasing the rubber farmers capacity is expected to increase information access of rubber farmers and solve the deadlock in communication process which occurs among farmers to achive synergy. This requires good communication and mutual understanding. The purposes of this study constitude 1). To describe the internal characteristics, external characteristics, sources of information, communication media and communication of farming programs; 2). To describe the communication behavior of rubber farmers; 3). To describe the communication convergence of rubber farmers; and 4). To analyze the influencing factors and the relationship between communication behavior and communication convergence towards increasing the capacity of rubber farmers in communicating. This research is conducted in Gunung Toar and Kuantan Mudik Sub-district, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This research is carried out in January 2020 to June 2021. Research respondents are determined by purposive sampling method with a total of 150 respondents. To answer the first, second and third objectives, this study uses descriptive and analysis while the fourth objective is answered by structural equation modeling analysis with the AMOS Version 21 program. The results of this study are 1). The internal characteristic variable is in the fairly good category, and the communication variable of the farming program is in the fairly good category, and the communication variable of the farming program is in the appropriate category; 2). The communication behavior of rubber farmers as a whole is in the fairly good category; 3). The overall communication convergence of rubber farmers is in the fairly good category; 4). Overall all research variables have positive effect on the rubber farmers communication behavior and the relationship of rubber farmers communication behavior and the relationship of rubber farmers communication behavior has a positive effect on communication convergence to increase the capacity of rubber farmers in communicating.
