Tingkat Keberdayaan Petani Sagu Pada Lahan Gambut Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Di Desa Sungai Tohor Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Timur Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
This research aims: (1) Knowing the characteristics of peatland sago farmers, (2) Knowing the role of local wisdom in sago farming on peatland, (3) Knowing the level of empowerment of sago farmers who conduct local wisdom, (4) Analyzing the relationship between the characteristics of sago farmers to the level of empowerment of sago farmers. This research uses survey method. Samples in the study were taken by snowball sampling and purposive sampling methods. Snowball sampling method involves several people (informants) or figures who know and do local wisdom carried out by sago farmers and purposive sampling method with the consideration of farmers who own sago plantation land with a land area of at least 2 ha. The number of respondents was 72 farmers. Data analysis used descriptive methods, likert scale analysis, and Rank Spearman correlation test. The results showed the internal characteristics of sago farmers seen from the age of being at productive age, the average level of education of sago farmers is low, sago farmers are very experienced in sago farming, land area is classified to large, the number of family dependents is classified as moderate, the cosmopolitan level of farmers is relatively low. The external characteristics of farmers is categorized as low. The role of local wisdom in sago farming is classified into a category of roles. The level of power of sago farmers is classified as underpowered. Rank Spearman's analysis showed that there is a relationship between internal frogs to the level of power of sago farmers. Indicators of internal characteristics that have a relationship with the level of empowerment of farmers are age, level of education, experience of farming, and cosmopolitanism.
