ABSTRACT
Changes in natural ecosystems to plantation land will cause changes in soil animals, including ants, which are thought to have an effect on their presence in a habitat. This study aims to (1) compare the diversity of ants in the forest and in sago plantations. (2) compare the frequency of the presence of ants in the two habitats. The study was conducted in April-January 2020 using themethod pitfall trap which was carried out for 72 hours. This study obtained 487 individuals belonging to 16 species of ants. The diversity of ant species in the forest is higher than in sago plantations. There are four species of ants that are only found in forest habitats and there are two species of ants that are only found in sago plantation habitats. The frequency of species presence in the two habitats also shows differences where the frequency value of species presence in plantation habitat is higher than the frequency value of species presence in forest habitat.
Keywords: Species richness, diversity of ants, frequency of ant presence.
