Gambaran Pemilihan Obat Psikotropika Pada Pasien Geriatri Di Poliklinik Penyakit Dalam Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2019
Psychotropics are drugs that can affect behavioral, thought and emotional
functions and are widely used in psychiatry. Psychotropic drugs are potentially
dangerous and can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences for patients of
all ages. This is even more evident for high-risk populations such as the elderly.
Careful assessment and monitoring of the use of psychotropic drugs that are used
is necessary, so that side effects in geriatric patients can be minimized. The
research that was carried out was a retrospective descriptive study. The research
data was taken from the medical records of geriatric patients who underwent
treatment at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic at Arifin Achamd regional hospital
of riau province in 2019, with a total sample of 78 patients. The results showed
that 24% of all geriatric patients at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic at Arifin
Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, used psychotropic drugs, with 61.5% of female
patients and 38.5% of male patients. The type of psychotropic drug that was most
widely used was the anti-anxiety group, amounting to 89.7%. Meanwhile, for the
diagnosis of most patients who used psychotropic drugs were endocrine,
metabolic and nutritional disorders, namely 41%. The most widely prescribed
psychotropic drug was a single type of psychotropic drug, amounting to 94.9%
and the dosage used was a therapeutic dose of 100%. This study concluded that
the use of psychotropic drugs in geriatric patients can be categorized as fair
based on the indication for use, the type of psychotropic drugs and the dosage
used.
