Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Kultur Jaringan Tanaman Berbasis Aplikasi Virtual Laboratorium Dalam Sudut Pandang Self Efficacy Mahasiswa
The immeasurable situation in the learning process has become a challenge in the effective learning, for example the cases that have been experienced by citizens of the world including Indonesia regarding the covid-19 that occurred at the end of 2019 caused the learning process in various educational institutions to be stopped for quite a long time, until a solution emerged to carry out the distance learning process (PJJ) by utilizing internet access with various forms of applications video conferencing in 2020. Problems do not only arise from the implemented or not implemented of teaching and learning activities, but also how the learning process runs.
Technological advances will be able to assist the learning process if its utilization is carried out optimally by the user, therefore the ability to make choices about the form of technology that will be used is very important to be noticed. Learning that requires special practicum is often an obstacle in the distant learning process. the lack of availability of supportive learning media causes learning activities regarding practicum not to take place properly. Biotechnology is one of the subjects studied in the biology education study program at the University of Riau. This course applies a lot of practicum in the laboratory for the learning process.
From the results of the study of the practicum guide used in the Biotechnology course at the Biology Education Study Program, Riau University, there are several practicum topics that require special equipment and must be carried out in a sterile room with good air circulation, including the topic of DNA and Tissue Culture practicums. These two practicum topics are the main focus that requires solutions in their implementation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the description of the problems presented, the solution that has been carried out is to develop a virtual laboratory-based plant tissue culture learning instrument that can be used as an alternative to the practicum learning process in learning in certain situations such as during the covid-19 outbreak. Virtual laboratory itself is an application that can simulate work on the practicum process with the given animation effects.
The development of a virtual tissue culture laboratory is carried out with the aim of being able to determine the quality of the virtual laboratory produced based on the opinions of experts in the field of material, media and language experts, in addition to seeing the assessment responses and self-efficacy given by students after using virtual tissue culture laboratory media. The development model used is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluation) stages in this model are carried out up to the stage development by considering the ongoing pandemic situation at that time. The parameters in this study are the quality of media development results, student assessment responses, students’ self-efficacy response .
The analysis phase consisted of an analysis of learning media needs on tissue culture material, an initial analysis of students’ self-efficacy for audio-visual-based media and analysis of a series of practicum stages. At the design stage, the process of

making vector image components and layout designs to form a storyboard is carried out using software known as Adobe Photoshop. The last is the development stage which is carried out for the final process of establishing a virtual media application for a tissue culture laboratory based on a storyboard that has been designed and involves software Adobe Flash cs.6. The next development process is to validate the finished virtual laboratory application to three experts who are experts in the field of tissue culture material, media and language use. After that, a limited trial process was carried out on 10 biology education students of Riau University, who were taking biotechnology courses in the sixth semester.
The results showed that based on expert assessments, each expert in the field gave a very good assessment with an average rating of 3,62 categories are very valid. The assessment response and self-efficacy given by students also received a very good response, the average value of the assessment response for the virtual tissue culture laboratory was 88.5 and self-efficacy with an average value of 3,4 in very high category.
Based on the research data obtained, it is known that the virtual plant tissue culture laboratory media produced has very good quality based on the opinions of experts in the field of expertise to the limited trials that have been carried out.
