ABSTRACT
The development of palm oil plantation in Indonesia to date obtains criticism
from many countries in the world because of creating environmental problem. To
overcome this problem, Indonesia government makes regulation related to the
guideline of sustainable palm oil plantation of Indonesia through ISPO certification
that must be followed by all business doers of palm oil plantation. However most of
self-subsistent palm oil plantation experiences difficulty in adopting ISPO certification
until it needs the role of cooperative in accompanying the planters. This research aims
to analyze the adoption process of ISPO certification, to analyze the role of Sekato Jaya
Lestari Cooperative and to analyze the comparison of production cost, number of
production, and income of self-subsistent palm oil planters in Mandi Angin Village
Minas Sub District Siak Regency. The research was conducted in March-June 2021.
The research method used survey method to obtain the primary data through the
interview towards the planters, cooperative, and chairperson of farmer group. Analysis
used was descriptive analysis with likert scale and quantitative analysis of statistical
test. The research results show that the self-subsistent palm oil planters successfully
adopted and applied ISPO certification well and successfully obtained ISPO
certification. The success of planters in obtaining ISPO certification is because there is
role of Sekato Jaya Lestari Cooperative in the form of providing agriculture facility,
providing necessary documents for ISPO certification, guidance, and giving
information and training related to the implementation of ISPO certification and
tehnnique of palm oil plantation cultivation in accordance with ISPO standard. ISPO
certification it has no effect on the production cost, number of production and planters
Income.
