Pola Lingkaran Pertumbuhan Pada Otolith Ikan Juaro (Pangasius Polyuranodon) Di Danau Oxbow Pinang Luar Desa Buluh Cina Kecamatan Siak Hulu Kabupaten Kampar Provinsi Riau
Abstract
Pangasius polyuranodon is commonly found in the Pinang Luar Oxbow Lake,
the growth pattern of that fish, however, is never been studied. To understand the growth
pattern in the otolith of that fish, a study was conducted in February to March 2021.
There were 50 fishes (41 male fishes and 9 female fishes) captured. The otolith (sagita)
was removed using tweezers and shaved using a grindstone. The dark growth ring pattern
was investigated using a binocular microscope. The size of fish captured ranged from 143
to 299 mm TL. The otolith length was 2.625-4.75 mm, the width was ranged from 1.75-
3.32 mm and the weight was 0.0056-0.1108 gr. There was a relationship between total
length and otolith size. The maximum number of dark ring in the otolith was 3. The
distance between the nucleus and the first dark ring was ranged from 0.05-0.75 and there
was no special pattern, indicated that the dark growth rings were not caused by periodical
incident, but they were formed individually. Based on data obtained it can be concluded
that P. polyuranodon was living well in the Pinang Luar lake.
