Distribusi Dan Kepadatan Keong Bakau (Telescopium Telescopium) Pada Ekosistem Mangrove Di Nagari Gasan Kabupaten Padang Pariaman Provinsi Sumatera Barat
Abstract
Telescopium telescopium has significant ecological and economical role in the
mangrove ecosystem. However, information on the distribution and density of this
snail is rare. To understand the distribution pattern of the snail in the mangrove
ecosystem of the Gasan Village, a study has been conducted on November-December
2020. There were 3 stations and in each station, there were 3 plots (10mx10m) with 5
sub plots (1mx1m) in each plot. The S1 was in the human inhabitant area, S2 in the
bufallo farm area and S3 was in natural area. The snails were collected manually
once/ 2 weeks. Distribution pattern and density of the snail were studied. Result
shown that in the S1,S2 and S3 the snail distributed uniformly. Distribution index
value of the snail was 0.88 – 0.91. The highest density was in the S2 with 16,666
organisms/ha and the lowest was in the S1 3,333 organisms/ha. The mangrove
density ranged from 800 to 1,533 trees/ha. The environmental parameters were are
follow: temperature 28-30 0C, pH 7-8, and salinity 17-22 ‰, while the soil pH was 6-
8. In the substrate, organic material ranged from 24.5 to 51.6 % and the type of
substrate was sandy mud. Ecosystem of magrove forest in Nagari Gasan supports the
life of magrove snails.
