Students’ Perceptions On The Use Of Group Discussion Through Zoom Meeting In Speaking Class During Online Learning

The objective of this research was to find out students' perceptions on the use of group discussion through zoom meeting in speaking class during online learning. This research uses Descriptive approaches to quantitative methods. The sample for this research included 80 students from the English department, Universitas Riau who experienced in the use of group discussion through zoom meeting in a speaking class during online learning. The instrument of this research was an online questionnaire using a Likert-type scale. The questions consisted to open-ended and close-ended questions. The results of this research show that students have a positive perceptions on the use of group discussion through zoom meeting in speaking class during online learning. They admitted that group discussions are an interesting technique for online learning. It can improve their confidence, create creativity in thinking, they can also participate well in group discussions and feel motivated to participate.by using group discussion through zoom meeting they can understand the materials better. And they confess that, using group discussion through zoom meeting in speaking class during online learning is efficiency in time and cost.
