ABSTRACT
Mangroves is one important ecosystems for coastal areas, in Pangkalan Sesai Dumai Village. Excessive use by the community or disturbances caused by nature factors can threaten the existence of mangrove forests. This study aimed to analyze the structure mangrove community and the level of vulnerability to mangrove degradation in the Ecotourism area of Bandar Bakau Dumai. This research using purposive sampling method by making three transect observations. The data taken include mangrove species, tree diameter, and tree height which analyzed using the Microsoft Excel computer program. Data is presented in form of tables, diagrams and pictures. The result of the study on the structure mangrove community in Bandar Bakau Dumai, resulted in a curve resembling an inverted “J” with the most common tree diameter of 10-14,9 cm, consisting of three stratum layers (B,C and D). From the result of the study it can be concluded that the Bandar Bakau area is included in the normal forest category, with moderately damaged conditions and susceptible to disturbance.
