Gambaran Kadar Endothelin-1 Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Berdasarkan Lama Dan Kontrol Gula Darah
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to a decrease in insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells and insulin resistance. Long suffering from DM and blood sugar control play an important role in the occurrence of DM complications. The risk of complications due to endothelial dysfunction, which is due to an imbalance between vasoconstrictors and vasodilators. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is believed to play an important role as a vasoconstrictor in the occurrence of diabetes and diabetes with cardiovascular complications. Nationally, there is an increase in the prevalence of people with diabetes mellitus and the highest cause of death and illness in patients with T2DM was cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of endothelin-1 levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus based on duration and blood sugar control. This research was a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. The sample of this study was type 2 diabetes mellitus patients obtained from data in previous studies at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic at several hospitals in Pekanbaru City for the period 2018-2019 which had data on age, duration of DM, blood sugar control, ET-1 levels and obtained 30 samples. The results of this study showed that the majority of type 2 DM patients were 41-60 years old (60%), had diabetes > 5 years (63,3%), had uncontrolled blood sugar levels (56,7%), and high ET-1 levels (83,3%). Based on the duration of diabetes mellitus and blood sugar control, the majority of type 2 DM patients had high ET-1 levels, had suffered from DM for > 5 years (84,2%) and controlled blood sugar (92,3%). The conclusion of this study based on the duration of DM and blood sugar control was the majority of type 2 DM patients had high levels of ET-1.
