Hubungan Antara Penggunaan Hair Styling Dengan Kejadian Ketombe Pada Mahasiswa Laki-Laki Di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Riau
Dandruff is a very common skin condition. Dandruff appears in the form of flakes on the scalp, hair, or clothing. Factors that can trigger dandruff are Malassezia growth, sebaceous gland activity, individual susceptibility, temperature and humidity. Young people tend to show a neat appearance, by often using hair styling. Excessive use of hair styling is one of the factors that trigger the emergence of oil in the hair so that it can cause dandruff and irritation. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of hair styling with the incidence of dandruff in male students of the Faculty of Medicine, Riau University. The type of research used is observational analytic with a cross sectional research design. The results of the study obtained a total of 38 research samples consisting of 16 people (42,1%) with dandruff and 22 people (57,9%) without dandruff. The results of the Fisher Exact correlation test on the relationship between the use of hair styling and the event of dandruff indicated that the value of p=>0.05 shows that there is no significant relationship between the use of hair styling and the event of dandruff.
