The Effectiveness of Si Belmi Game in Improving Student’s Ability on Spoken Recount at the Eighth Grade of Junior High School during Pandemic
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Si Belmi
game in improving students' speaking skills in spoken recount in terms of their
pronunciation and hesitation. This study used a pre-experimental design with
quantitative methods. The instrument used is a monologue test, both pre-test and
post-test. Data collection consisted of six meetings. The first meeting was a pre-test,
the second to fifth meetings were given treatment, and the sixth meeting was a posttest.
The sample of this study were students of class VIIIF SMP N 1 Baktiraja,
totaling 25 students. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in
the students' speaking skills in terms of their pronunciation and hesitation. In terms of
pronunciation, there was an increase of 27%. In the case of hesiation, there is an
increase of 36%. Based on the results of the study, the writer concluded that the use
of Si Belmi game as a learning media has a significant effect on improving students'
ability in spoken recount for eighth grade at SMP N 1 Baktiraja. H1 is accepted and
H0 is rejected because the t-test value (13.08) is higher than the t-table value (2.429).
