Pengembangan Modul Bioteknologi Berbasis Education For Sustainable Development Untuk Melatih Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa SMP
Learning in the 21st century demands critical thinking skills, creative
thinking, collaboration, communication, computational logic and character with
the integration of ESD concepts to support sustainable living. Identification is
done through an analysis of student needs by distributing a questionnaire
consisting of 15 questions to junior high school students. The results of the
analysis show that students still find it difficult to develop their critical thinking
skills in science learning. Therefore, new innovations are needed to provide
solutions to these problems, namely ESD-based biotechnology modules that can
train students' critical thinking skills.
The research aims to develop a valid, practical and effective ESD-based
biotechnology module to be used as teaching material in science learning in
junior high schools that can train students' critical thinking skills. The
development model used in this study is the ADDIE model which consists of the
stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
The research consisted of several tests, namely validity test, teacher
response test, student response test consisting of one-on-one test and limited test
and effectiveness test of the developed ESD-based biotechnology module. Based
on the validity test by material expert validators, media experts and pedagogic
experts, it showed an average score of 3.54 with very valid criteria. The results of
the research on the teacher response test showed an average score of 3.74 with
very practical criteria. The one-on-one test showed an average score of 3.56 with
very practical criteria and 3.73 on a small-scale test with very practical criteria.
The results of the effectiveness test of using the ESD-based biotechnology module
show that the t-test value for posttest data has a significance value (α) < 0.05
(with sig. = 0.000), so the decision is Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a
significant difference in the average score. posttest scores of critical thinking
skills between the experimental class and the control class.
The results of the research concluded that the ESD-based biotechnology
module was declared valid, practical and effective to use in science learning to
train students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class compared to
students' critical thinking skills in the control class without using the ESD-based
biotechnology module.
