Pengaruh Beads Komposit Chitosan-Clay Sebagai Adsorben Dalam Penurunan Salinitas Air Payau Dengan Variasi Laju Alir Dan Massa Beads
Brackish water in terms of quality can not be used as a source of clean water or drinking water. One of the characteristics of brackish water is the high salinity content. The salinity of brackish water describes the salt content in a brackish water. One alternative treatment that can be used is the adsorption process with a column system using chitosan-clay beads containing amine groups and having good ability to absorb salinity. The results of the characterization by analysis of the FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) test on chitosan made in this study contained a chitosan functional group and obtained a DD value of 80.97% and the results of the mechanical strength test were 10.65 MPa and the results of the water absorption test (DSA) on chitosan-clay Beads obtained a value of 612,36%. Beads were also characterized by SEM test analysis to determine the morphology, the resulting Beads have a coarse texture and have porosity. This study aims to set aside salinity in brackish water. Variations carried out were flow rates of 3 mL/minute, 3.5 mL/minute and 4.5 mL/minute and the mass of beads 380 g/l, 475 g/l and 570 g/l. The results obtained are the best salinity ion removal efficiency of 92.34% with a final concentration of 1.833 ppt at a flow rate of 3 mL/minute with a mass of 570 g/l beads.
