Pengaruh Doping Mangan Terhadap Komposisi Dan Sifat Kristalinitas Partikel Oksida Besi Pasir Alam Sungai Rokan Yang Dipreparasi Dengan Metode Ball Milling
The composition and properties of crystallinity and magnetic susceptibility of iron oxide nanoparticles in natural sand Rokan River, Riau Province have been investigated. Natural sand samples have been processed using an Iron Sand Separator (ISS) then the product was separated between Iron Oxide and other non-ferrous oxides using Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets. The NdFeB product was prepared using ball milling for 70 hours, the product is then called BM I. The BM I was divided into 3, each was ball milled again using Manganese doping with concentrations of 0 wt.%; 5 wt.% and 10 wt. % for 30 hours, the result is then called BM II product (BM II A, BM II B, and BM II C). The magnetic induction of the solenoid (B0) and the total magnetic induction of the solenoid (BT) were measured using the Pasco Magnetic Probe PS-216. The calculation of the magnetic susceptibility value was carried out based on the values of B0 and BT. The results showed that the susceptibility value increased with ball milling time of 70 hours and more increased after the Manganese doping process was carried out for 30 hours. The crystal size and identification of magnetic particle elements of BM II products were determined by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). The results of XRD analysis of BM II products contain a hematite phase (α-Fe2O3) which has a hexagonal structure. The crystal size increased with increasing Manganese concentration from 25,494 nm; 25,542 nm to 25,669 nm. The results of XRF analysis of BM II products on Fe elements decreased in percentage with increasing Manganese concentration from 18.083%; 15,407% to 12.947%. Other chemical elements such as Al, Si, P, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Zn and Pb also decreased.
