Skrining Aktivitas Antioksidan Dari Fraksi Ekstrak Etil Asetat Plectranthus Ciliatus
Plectranthus ciliatus is a plant that is easy to live in Indonesia and also is a native
species from South Africa. Around 85% of Plectranthus were used in medicine.
In addition, Plectranthus potentially has ability to produce secondary metabolites
that are active against antioxidant activity. This study aimed to determine the
secondary metabolite content of this plant and to test antioxidant activity of the
extract and the ethyl acetate fraction of P. ciliatus. The results of phytochemical
tests showed that the plant contained secondary metabolites such as alkaloids,
steroids, saponins, phenolics and flavonoids. The extraction process was carried
out using the maceration method with methanol as a solvent and continued with
the fractionation process using the partition method to obtain a thick extract of
ethyl acetate. Antioxidant testing using the DPPH method on the extract found
that the ethyl acetate extract had strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of
115.34 μg/mL and the strongest ethyl acetate fraction was in the PC-E-V4-FL13
fraction with an IC50 value of 45.75 μg/ mL and PC-E-V7 fraction 55.78 g/mL.
