Studi Pendahuluan: Inventarisasi Mamalia Di Kawasan Hutan Rawa Gambut, Pt Gan, Semenanjung Kampar, Riau
PT Global Alam Nusantara (GAN) is a peat swamp forest in the Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER) stretch of the Kampar Peninsula. Peat swamp forest is the one of habitats for mammals, 77 species of mammals have been recorded in RER, but the information of the diversity of mammals in PT GAN is not known yet. Therefore, this study aims to determine the diversity of mammals, distribution and existence based on distance to water sources (rivers, rivulet, and canals); and their status based on Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation (PermenLHK) P.106/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/12/2018, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and Conventional of International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) . The method used are direct and indirect observations on 12 transect that are distributed systematically by considering the distance of the transect to water source. Mammalian data are tabulated based on transect distance to water sources and their taxa. There were 20 species that were successful at PT GAN, with a new record found, namely the feather-tailed squirrel (Ptilocercus lowii). Most mammals species are found in areas close to water sources. There are 8 protected mammal species; where 3 of them, namely Nycticebus coucang, Hylobates agilis status as critical (endangered) and Helarctos malayanus status as vulnerable (vulnerable) according to the IUCN Red list; and 3 species have appendix I status, and five others have appendix II CITES status.
Key findings: Endangered, Kampar Peninsula, New record, RER, Water source
