Profil Kejang Demam Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode Januari 2016–Desember 2020
Febrile seizures are seizure that occur in children aged 6 months to 5 years who have a fever >38°C, without an intracranial process, other causes of seizures (electrolyte disturbances, hypoglycemia, drug use and discontinuation) or a history of seizures without fever. Febrile seizures are the most common neurological disorders in children and are classified into two, namely simple and complex febrile seizures. Generally has a good prognosis, but recurrence of febrile seizures in children may lead to other more serious illnesses such as Generalized Epilepsy with Febrile Seizure Plus (GEFS+), Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy (Dravet Syndrome), or Febrile Status Epilepticus. Several factors are associated with the recurrence of febrile seizures, namely age, genetics, body temperature, and the type of febrile seizure when the first febrile seizure occurred. This study aims to determine the profile of febrile seizures in Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital Riau Province in January 2016–December 2020. This was a retrospective descriptive study with medical record data obtained from the Child Health Department in Arifin Achmad General Hospital Riau Province by total sampling. The results of the study found 57 patients with febrile seizures who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Most febrile seizures were found in children aged 13–24 months totaling 24 (42.11%) patients, female sex was found slightly more in 29 (50.88%) patients, body temperature at most ≥39°C totaling 29 (50.88%) patients and the most common type of febrile seizure was complex febrile seizures, amounting to 34 (59.65%) patients.
