Gambaran Endotelin-1 Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Berdasarkan Status Nutrisi Dan Tekanan Darah
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that occurs when normal level of
insulin cannot be used optimally or the body is unable to produce insulin so that
glucose level rises in the blood. DM is often accompanied by other metabolic
syndromes, but obesity and hypertension often coexist with type 2 diabetes and play
a role in the development of vascular complications. The mechanism of
complications of type 2 diabetes begins with endothelial dysfunction, which is the
imbalance between vasoconstriction and vasodilation. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is a
potent vasoconstrictor and a marker of endothelial dysfunction. Other factors such
as obesity and hypertension also play a role in increasing ET-1 levels. The purpose
of this study was to determine the description of endothelin-1 in patients with type
2 diabetes mellitus based on nutritional status and blood pressure. The design of
this study was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample of this study were 30
samples of type 2 DM patients obtained from previous research data at the Internal
Medicine Polyclinic at several hospitals in Pekanbaru City in 2018-2019 which had
data on age, gender, BMI, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and
ET-1 levels. The results of this study showed that the characteristics of type 2 DM
patients were the majority aged 41-60 years (60%), female gender (56.7%),
suffering from obesity (63.3%), suffering from hypertension (86.7%), and high
levels of ET-1 (83.3%). Based on nutritional status and blood pressure, the majority
of type 2 DM patients had high ET-1 levels and suffered from obesity (84.2%) and
hypertension (84.6%). The conclusion from this study based on nutritional status
and blood pressure, type 2 DM patients have high ET-1 levels.
