Karakteristik Fisik Dan Mekanis Penggunaan Kayu Non Kelas Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Bki) Pada Konstruksi Kapal Kayu Tradisional Skripsi
Abstract
The need for wood as the main material in shipbuilding is always increasing and the acquistion of quality wood according to the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI) standards for ship construction is increasingly difficult to find, due to the depletion of wood in the forest. This study aims to determine the physical and mechanical properties of wood commonly used in ship construction and not included in the BKI class. In the physical test, the weight and density refers to the ASTM D970 standard and the JIS A5980 water absorption test. The bending mechanical test refers to the ASTM D790-02 standard, the ASTM D638-08 tensile test and the ASTM D5942-96 impact test. The results showed that the largest water absorption capacity was Sesub wood at 22.22%, and the highest density was Parak wood at 785.98 kg/m3. The highest bending mechanical test was parak wood which was 157.131 Mpa which was equivalent to the strength of class I wood, the largest tensile test was parak wood of 165.0446 Mpa which was equivalent to the strength of class I wood, and the largest impact test was Parak wood which was 0.0922 J
/mm2. Based on the results of the study that composite wood powder and bagasse can be used as construction materials for deck houses.
