Pengembangan Modul Pembelajaran Ipa Berbasis PJBL-Stem Untuk Melatih Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Pada Materi Tekanan Kelas VIII SMP
Critical thinking is one of the main skills needed in 21st-century learning. The results of the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) survey show that the critical thinking ability of Indonesian students was still relatively low. The preliminary test at SMP Negeri 10 Tapung also showed that 76% of the 124 class VIII students had critical thinking skills with low and very low categories. Therefore, efforts are needed to train critical thinking skills, one of them being by using PjBL-STEM-based modules in science learning.
This study aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective PjBL-STEM-based science learning module to train students' critical thinking skills in the Pressure material of class VIII Junior High School. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model that consists of five stages, there were Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.
The Analysis stage consists of needs analysis, curriculum analysis, and material analysis. Based on needs analysis, it found that students' critical thinking skills was still relatively low. The results of the distribution of needs analysis questionnaires to students and teachers at junior high schools in Riau Province indicated that critical thinking skills were rarely trained in science learning. Based on the curriculum analysis, it was found that the Pressure material is compatible with PjBL-STEM-based learning and critical thinking skills. And based on the analysis of the material obtained 5 projects that accordance with the material indicators and problems or phenomena in daily life related to pressure material.
The selection of module formats, designing PjBL-STEM learning in modules, designing PjBL-STEM modules, and designing instruments had been carried out in the design stage. In the Development stage, a revised and valid PjBL-STEM-based science learning module was produced based on assessment and improvement input from experts. The results of the overall expert assessment in the fields of material, pedagogics, and learning media showed that the PjBL-STEM-based science learning module was very valid with an average score of 3,63. The readability and practicality of a valid module were carried out through one-on-one trials and small group trials. Based on the one-on-one trial, information was obtained from students as users regarding the clarity of the module, ease of using of the module, the feasibility of using the module based on time availability, as well as the impact of using the module on attitude and perception of the user suitable the purpose of module development. Small group trials aimed to find out the practicality of the module. The results of student response analysis used the PjBL-STEM-based science learning module showed that the module was classified as very practical in all aspects of assessment with average score percentages of 87%.

The Implementation stage was conducted with field trials. The result of field trials found that learning using PjBL-STEM-based science learning modules was more effective for training students' critical thinking skills than conventional learning in the pressure material of class VIII junior high school. Based on the Independent Sample t-test, a significance of 0.000 was obtained where p < 0.05, so Ho's was rejected which means that there was a significant difference between the average score of the post-test of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class and the control class. The average post-test score for critical thinking skills in the experimental class was 58.67 in the medium category and the average post-test score of critical thinking skills in the control class was 39.17 in the low category.
The evaluation was carried out at each stage of development (formative evaluation) and also as a whole (summative) with the aim of quality improving the PjBL-STEM module as a product of development. Based on the overall results of this research, the author recommends the application of the PjBL-STEM module in science learning as an alternative for teachers to train students' critical thinking skills.
