ABSTRACT
This study aims to (1) examine the pattern of communication networks, (2) the actors
involved in the communication network, (3) and their role in oil palm farmers in Suka
Maju Village, Bagan Sinembah District, Rokan Hilir Regency. The sampling method used
in this study is a non-probability sampling technique consisting of purposive sampling
and snowball sampling techniques. The results show that the communication network
formed in the four agribusiness subsystems is dominant in the wheel pattern, the
network structure is in the form of a wheel pattern, which is a very centralized pattern.
The roles found in the communication network that is formed are star, bridge and gate
keeper. Analysis of the communication network at the individual level to see actors who
become stars, appropriate actors as disseminators of information and actors as
communication control holders. The star actors in the upstream subsystem are H. Tumin
(HT), Maryanto (MR) Boimin (BM), Suyitno (SY), Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD and
Agricultural Figures (TP). In the farming subsystem are H. Tumin (HT) , Boimin (BM) and
Suyitno (SY), in the downstream subsystem are H. Tumin (HT) Boimin (BM), in the
supporting subsystem are BRI (BR), and the Village Unit Cooperative (KUD). the
upstream subsystem is Boimin (BM), the farming subsystem is Boimin (BM), and Suyitno
(SY): in the downstream subsystem is Suyitno (SY), H.Tumin (HT), the supporting
subsystem is Suyitno (SY). acting as communication control in the upstream subsystem,
namely Boimin (BM), in the farming subsystem, namely Tukul (TK), in the downstream
subsystem, namely H.Tumin (HT), and in the supporting business subsystem, namely
H.Tumin (HT).
