Strategi Pengembangan Industri Kecil Makanan Ringan (Studi Kasus : Keripik Cabe Di Kecamatan Dumai Barat Kota Dumai)
ABSTRACT West Dumai district has several small and medium-sized industries which are the livelihoods of some people, including the spicy chip business which has an economic aspect, which has a relatively large profit. Market opportunities within the region and outside the region for this commodity are still very open. This study aims to determine the strategy for developing chili chips business in West Dumai District, Dumai City. The population of this study is the owner of the chili chip industriin West Dumai District, Dumai City. The research population was 10 business units, sampling using the census method, in this case all spicy chip-producing household businesses in West Dumai District, Dumai City, amounting to 10 business units. The data analysis tool uses SWOT analysis.The results of the data analysis of the internal faktor value, namely, the highest strength is found at a relatively cheap price. The highest value of weakness is found in the limited point of sale location, the condition shows that the Chili Chips SMEs in West Dumai District are not optimally ready to market spicy chips products. The results of the SWOT analysis show that the spicy chip industriin West Dumai District is in a business growth phase. The development strategy that is suitable to be applied is to use a strategy of strengths and opportunities. This strategy is carried out by utilizing the company's strengths to capture high market opportunities, namely improving product quality, applying affordable prices and being able to compete with other products, making attractive packaging, and highlighting that spicy chips are typical Dumai souvenirs, as well as conducting promotions regularly. on line.
