Analisis Kondisi Kualitas Air Limbah Hotel Dan Strategi Pengelolaannya Di Kota Pekanbaru
The hotel sector has a major contribution to the rate of economic growth
which continues to increase. According to the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS)
Pekanbaru the number of star hotels grew by 4.76%, namely in 2019 there were
63 hotels, while in 2020 to 2021 there were 66 star hotels with accompanied by an
increase in the number of available rooms by 9.07%. In addition, the increase in
Tingkat Penghunian Kamar (TPK) reached 34.42% with 9,185 beds, so it is
estimated that the wastewater generated is 372,722 m3 of the total visitors per
year. Wastewater that is not treated and directly discharged into water bodies will
have an impact on decreasing water quality and increasing public health
problems in Pekanbaru. Therefore, it is necessary to study the analysis of the
condition of hotel wastewater quality and management strategies in Pekanbaru.
This study aims to analyze the general condition of the hotel including the
amount of discharge and quality of hotel wastewater, compare the parameters of
wastewater quality (BOD, COD, TSS) in three and four star hotels, and to develop
a strategy for managing hotel wastewater in Pekanbaru. The hotel selection was
based on the recapitulation of the hotel wastewater quality test results recorded in
the DLHK. The method of taking the questionnaire was done by cluster random
sampling to people who live about 50 meters from the hotel building, then
interviewed using a purposive sampling method by determining the key
informants, namely Kepala Bidang Pengendalian Pencemaran dan Kerusakan
Lingkungan Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kebersihan (DLHK) and hotel
employees related to waste water management. Furthermore, descriptive analysis
is carried out by describing the data and comparing it with quality standards.
Comparison of wastewater quality parameters (BOD, COD and TSS) was carried
out using the T-test method for paired samples, then the preparation of hotel
wastewater management strategies was carried out using the SWOT analysis
method.
The results of the study indicate that an increase in the number of visitors
will increase the number of rooms and the discharge of hotel wastewater
generated. The values of pH, TSS, BOD, oils and fats, ammonia and total coliform
have met the quality standards, while the COD values in most hotels have not met
the quality standards with no significant difference between the wastewater
quality parameters of three-star and four-star hotels with the results p-value >
0.05.
The hotel waste water management strategy includes evaluating waste water
management policies by the government and related hotels with the aim of
fostering, supervising and controlling the hotel industry, then evaluating the
performance of the wastewater treatment system on a regular basis with the right
IPAL technology, plus the importance of procuring environmental care activities
as a form of concern for the government and the hotel for the environment and
the health of the surrounding community.
