Background and goal: Dumai City Tourism Forest faces complex problems, there
are many components that influence each other and have a causal relationship.
Therefore, an effective and efficient solution must be found regarding the
management of the Dumai City Tourism Forest. Thus, a sustainable Dumai City
Forest management strategy is needed. Methods and materials: Primary data were
collected through field observations, direct measurements and interviews.
Secondary data was obtained through observation of research reports, data and
information in the form of figures related to the Dumai City Tourism Forest.
Sustainability analysis uses a multidimensional scaling (MDS) approach with the
RAPFISH (Rapid Assessment Technique for Fisheries) program. The Dumai City
Tourism Forest management strategy was built by combining the results of the
MDS analysis, sensitive and prospective attributes. Result: The level of
sustainability of Dumai City Tourism Forest management is currently in the
category of less sustainable status. A number of attributes that are considered
sensitive for the sustainability of Dumai City Tourism Forest management are in
the ecological dimension there are 3 attributes, the economic dimension is 4
attributes, the social dimension is 5 attributes, and the governance dimension is 4
attributes. The scenario for the sustainability of the Dumai City Tourism Forest
management shows that all dimensions achieve sustainable values in the
maximum scenario. The ecological, economic, social, and governance dimensions
have increased significantly from current conditions. Conclusion: The highest
dimension that has increased is the social dimension, so that the implementation
of activities on the social dimension needs attention, such as: forming
communities, holding routine activities, holding public communication facilities
and infrastructure, and increasing community participation to maintain, develop
and discuss regional problems. forest. The operationalization of this scenario is
formulated by involving all relevant stakeholders, with a discussion of the factors
that must be considered, the challenges and opportunities as well as the
implementation strategy for the successful management of the Dumai City
Tourism Forest.
